The Miss Spent programme has now run seven times in London, Bradford and Luton. All of the young women on the programme were entered for and passed the “Working with Others” award. The programme is an accredited 30 hour arts-based personal development course evaluated by South Bank University’s Policy and Practice Research Group.
The programme introduces and builds on the skills of young women through the performing and visual arts. Themes covered include young women’s place in society, self-image, victim empathy, factors behind offending behaviour, breaking cycles and transformation. It also draws on Cognitive Behaviour Techniques and Clean Break’s Women and Anger programme.
We are interested to hear from UK Youth Offending Teams, in particular from Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Projects, Young Offenders’, Juvenile Units and Pupil Referral Units. The programme is adaptable for two age groups either 14-16 years or 17-21 years.
Please contact Jo Whitehouse, Girls’ and Young Women’s
Project Manager, if you are interested to find out more about the Miss
Spent Project.
