One of Britain’s most celebrated actors, Dame Harriet Walter, joins Clean Break theatre company to spotlight her brilliant book, She Speaks!, and host performances with acclaimed actors, artists and friends of Clean Break.
Playing so many of Shakespeare's roles throughout her phenomenal career, Harriet reimagines what some of the women in his plays might have been secretly thinking and with wit and insight lets them speak their minds.
Joining Harriet on stage will be Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials, BBC One), Shona Babayemi (Twelfth Night, Shakespeare's Globe), Jennifer Joseph (Shakespeare Trilogy, Donmar Warehouse), Grace Savage (HOME, National Theatre) and Academy Award nominated director, Phyllida Lloyd CBE (Mamma Mia!, Universal Pictures).
Harriet Walter: “I worship Shakespeare, his psychological insight is second to none…but the mirror that he held up to Nature reflected a predominantly male image of the world. I pondered the long shadow of his genius and tried to think of ways to let a little sunlight in on some of his women’s stories. I like to think he wouldn’t mind.”

All ticket sales from the event will directly support Clean Break’s life-changing work, using theatre workshops and 1-to-1 trauma informed support to transform the lives of women who experienced the criminal justice system, or are at risk of entering it.
