We are excited to reveal the new artwork for Clean Break's upcoming co-production with Brixton House, directed by Milli Bhatia.
Shot by photographer Christa Holka and featuring actor Pearl Mackie, who is cast as Baby, the new artwork puts the play's complicated, fierce and funny protagonist centre stage.
Baby is an ambitious one woman show that is as intimate as it is epic. Through the life story of our main character, the piece fearlessly explores the expansive roots of inequality in the UK, from within the criminal justice system and far beyond it, covering urgent state of the nation themes.
The story is heartbreaking and rooted in the realities of trauma experienced by so many women. However, through Gurpreet's sharp, authentic writing it is also filled with humour, making it an incredibly compelling watch for audiences.
Ultimately, Baby is a play about a woman who does everything she can to survive, but faces so many overwhelming obstacles that she is left with no other option than to do something unimaginably drastic.
Premiering at Brixton House in October, tickets for Baby are on sale now.
